Recap of the KidsGames in Grenoble and the Paralympic Celebration
Steve had a wonderful last evening in Grenoble and wanted to share with you some details about the key events, especially the KidsGames that took place yesterday. This collaborative event brought together many local churches and united the community around children and sports.
The KidsGames in Grenoble
The KidsGames took place in Grenoble, gathering around 90 to 95 children divided into eight teams, each with at least eight participants, and sometimes more.
What made this event unique was the inclusion of adaptive sports, allowing children to discover and experience the challenges and joys of sports for people with disabilities. Two sports stood out: blind football and wheelchair basketball, which were very popular with the participants.
The event was filled with energy, and the feedback was overwhelmingly positive. The children not only learned values of cooperation and respect but also became more aware of the challenges faced by people with disabilities in sports.
Parasport Celebration and Church Service
On Sunday morning, there was a church service with a Parasport celebration at the evangelical Protestant church in Grenoble. Steve had the opportunity to address the children using a sound ball, illustrating the importance of helping children who face challenges enjoying sports. He also shared a message on inclusive Christian mission, in line with the goal of integrating people of all abilities into the faith community.
Alongside his wife and Couly Dieng from Sporifois Rhône-Alpes, they were joined by two remarkable athletes:
- Mimosette, a French champion in weightlifting originally from Cameroon.
- Mathieu Agbeme, a fitness specialist originally from Togo, based in Lyon.
They conducted several practical sessions to raise awareness among both children and adults about adaptive sports. Participants got the chance to try sports like sitting volleyball, volleyball, blind football, boccia, tennis for the visually impaired, and fitness for people with disabilities.
Conclusion
This period was blessed with moments of awareness and inclusion at the heart of the Christian mission. Steve expresses deep gratitude for what God has accomplished through these events, and he hopes it will inspire other initiatives in the future.
