An Inspiring Evening in Grenoble: Raising Awareness on Disability and Prayer for an Inclusive Church

We had an excellent evening in Grenoble with the church of Villard-de-Lans, where we had the opportunity to lead an important session on raising awareness about disability and parasports. The evening was led by Couly Dieng, Matthieu Agbeme, my wife Sarah, and myself. Together, we addressed key issues related to the inclusion of people with disabilities within our communities.

Raising Awareness on Disability and Parasports

During the evening, we shared a presentation with the church members on disability and parasports, highlighting the challenges faced by people with disabilities and the opportunities sports provide to overcome these obstacles. This session allowed for a better understanding of the realities of disability and the importance of active and full inclusion in all areas of life.

A Committed Time of Prayer

After this awareness session, we spent a precious time in prayer with the church members. This moment of reflection focused on two essential aspects:

  1. How can the Christian church serve families with members who have disabilities in their communities? We prayed that the church would be a place of welcome and support for these families, offering not only community but also resources and solutions to help them live their faith more fully in their daily lives.
  2. The potential for a lasting legacy of inclusion across the 12 regions of France following the Jesus Paralympics. We also prayed that, in the wake of the Jesus Paralympics, a legacy of inclusion would spread across all regions of France. The goal is for every church to play a key role in integrating people with disabilities, not only in church life but also in society as a whole.

This evening in Grenoble was not only inspiring but also planted seeds for a more inclusive and aware future. We hope this spirit of inclusion will continue to grow and spread throughout all communities in France, transforming churches into true havens of welcome for all, without distinction.
