Hymnal” project: when art questions humanity gathered at the heart of the 2024 Games.
During the Games, a unique artistic experience will take place at La Baptisse: a creative marathon on the theme of the hymn to offer visitors from all over the world a physical, existential and spiritual rejuvenation in the heart of Paris.
La Baptisse (pronounced bâtisse, spelled with a “p” like Paris) is a new life project for the Evangelical Baptist Church at 48 rue de Lille, Paris 7e. This new identity transforms the historic church, a stone’s throw from the Musée d’Orsay and the Louvre, into a place of culture, relaxation and encounter.
The project, led by artist couple Estienne and Johanna Rylle, is to turn La Baptisse into a veritable monastery for the 3rd millennium, to question the existential, poetic and spiritual dimensions of our society in search of meaning.
A project to be launched during JO24: “Hymnal, Humanité Rassemblée” (Hymnal, Humanity Gathered)
The artistic project Hymnal, Humanité Rassemblée (Hymnal, Humanity Gathered ) explores the richness of the hymn to question in depth the bonds that unite us. This project to launch La Baptisse embodies the approach of a nascent artistic movement based on the living experience of the gospel, generosity and reparation. To take care of culture, to keep creation alive.
This initiative offers :
– An immersive exhibition shaped by the collaboration of a dozen artists from all horizons, questioning living and doing together. This multi-disciplinary contemplative experience invites each visitor to become a pilgrim.
– Events punctuating the day: artistic performances, guided tours by the creative team, moments of musical prayer…
– An ephemeral café in the chapel and its annexes, dedicated to rest and conversation, where the synergy between art and conviviality takes on its full meaning.
This cultural project is run in conjunction with theAgapé Hub, whose space at 50 rue Meslay, Paris 3e, will host part of the exhibition.
