This month, some members of the French Christian sports movement were able to get together for a weekend in Malta for the ECSU gathering.
TheEuropean Christian Sports Union is a partnership of churches, mission agencies and individuals who together want to see every athlete in Europe become a disciple of Christ and every community in Europe be influenced by sport for Christ. As part of the global sports movement, ECSU’s vision is to make disciples in sport, leisure, health and fitness in each of the 48 countries on our continent.
It seeks to achieve this goal by praying for one another, building partnerships and helping to initiate and develop sports ministry in each of these countries. It wants to support sustainable, local programs, projects and initiatives wherever it can.
ECSU is also looking to train people to make disciples in the three networks of competitive sport, community sport and health and fitness.
To this end, it organizes training events in European cities, an annual summer university, and regional and continental conferences.
This year’s gathering took place in Malta from November 9 to 12 and welcomed people involved in competitive and elite sport, community sport or health and fitness who are passionate about making disciples for Christ in Europe!
The gathering was not only an opportunity to make contact with other believers from 36 European countries, but also to learn and encourage each other through workshops, networking and communities of practice.
For our French delegation who took part, it was a weekend of great encouragement and sharing. We look forward to seeing how Ensemble 2024 can grow and have an effect even outside France through our connections with our brothers and sisters in ECSU.
